Standing Up For Our Immigrant Communities and the U.S. Constitution
When Donald Trump deployed troops into our City, we created a regional coalition of cities and advocacy groups and we sued. We halted illegal and unconstitutional raids and will continue to fight to protect our residents and our tax dollars from interference by the Trump Administration.

Fighting for Workers
We built the first workers' rights unit in the City Attorney’s office. Six lawyers now work full-time to make sure employers follow the law and treat workers fairly. Every worker deserves respect and fair pay.

Helping Renters Stay in Their Homes
We have dedicated team members who focus on tenant rights and affordable housing. Working with local organizations, we've handed out thousands of "know your rights" pamphlets to tenants in six different languages across the city.

Solving Neighborhood Problems
My office created a new Community Outreach Court that helps people experiencing unsheltered homelessness resolve outstanding warrants and other legal impediments to their ability to rent housing, get a job or receive benefits from certain organizations or agencies.

Protecting Your Rights and Your Wallet
I created the first Public Rights Branch in our office's history. Now, 42 dedicated staff members protect our environment, clean up problem properties, go after businesses that cheat consumers, and make sure workers get paid what they're owed.

Protecting Women and Girls
Working with police and community groups, we've rescued more than 200 young people from trafficking and moved them to safe places. We've also gone after those who buy sex and arrested or prosecuted more than 200 others. We shut down the worst motels where human trafficking was taking place and are expanding these efforts to protect women and girls. And when the former District Attorney failed to prosecute a preschool teacher for sex abuse, we took it to court – and won.

Helping Our Unhoused Get Back on their Feet
In partnership with the Mayor, the Court and the Public Defender, my office created a new Community Outreach Court that helps people experiencing unsheltered homelessness resolve outstanding warrants and other legal impediments to their ability to rent housing, get a job or receive benefits from certain organizations or agencies.

Keeping Government Honest
We've put new rules in place to make our office more transparent and prevent corruption. Good government starts with doing the right thing. We have ended no-bid contracts, stopped developers from developing ordinances, and set up a Lock Box so that cash and checks to City go directly to the Office of Finance.
Why This Work Matters
My commitment to the City I love runs deep. It started with watching my parents who believed in serving their community - a father who fought to shut down a prison with horrible conditions, and a mother who helped people struggling with addiction when few others would.
I ran for this office to fix what's broken and stand up for everyone in Los Angeles. Every day, I’m working to make that promise a reality.
